by Jen Hopkins

Many superstores all over the world have overflowed their store racks with many different kinds of anti aging skin care products, all claiming to remove wrinkles and permanently reverse the visible signs of aging. Many conscientious individuals find it amazing and appalling to be bombarded with countless advertisements that promote the sale of these products. Here is what was found to be particularly amazing-all these advertisements claim to provide multiple benefits to the consumer, but without any scientific explanation of how these products actually produce such results. This article will discuss the all important question...do wrinkle creams work?

Many scientific studies over the years have proven that products do exist that actually deliver the results the consumers desire. The downside to these results is the effects produced are as varied as the methods in which the products are formulated. Since many of the processes involved in the formulation of these products have patents on the process and/or trademark secrets, the process details themselves cannot be given in this article. This article will, however, discuss the effects produced by these products in order to establish their effectiveness.

Some of the acidic formulations act by clearing the pores that our skin has. This is achieved either by flooding these pores with fresh lease of oxygen or by flushing out sebum contained in these pores through external fluid media. Either way, the end result is skin that can breathe.

Cleaning out skin pores is the premier goal of any quality wrinkle cream. This effect attempts to accelerate the expulsion of toxic waste from the epidermis(top layer of skin). Toxic waste within pores is one of the main reasons for serious acne and other types of skin ailments. Many of these skin conditions are known causes of stress to the skin, causing wrinkles.

Some of these creams contain the secretion of oil from these glands helping keep oily skin clear of grime build-up which is the labyrinth of bacterial action leading to major skin diseases. In doing so, these creams neutralize the potential skin issues that aggravate ageing. So, if upon application of a wrinkle cream, a person with oily skin finds skin becoming less oily, you know the cream is actually working!

Some other creams, specifically meant to cater to people with ultra dry skin, provide incentive to these glands for secreting necessary amount of fluids. This is achieved by providing extra moisture which enables these glands to dissolve dead skin cells and flush them out. So, if upon application of cream, a person with ultra dry skin finds skin to be less dry, you know the cream is actually working!

The keys to purchasing the right cream is to understand the ingredients and functions, to have knowledge about the results desired and knowledge about the contents of the cream that will produce the desired result.
