Natural Acne Remedies for Skin Problems

by Sabina Carvalho

All around the world, people suffer from minor to mayor acne problems. As a consequence, there is a large market for the treatment of acne problems. There are OTC drugs available for acne problems, but there are also other options.

Home remedies for acne are almost as numerous as OTC drugs. Some are effective and others are just myths. In this article, however, we will first focus on the primary causes of acne and then on the more effective natural treatments for acne.

What produces acne?

Essentially, acne is a skin condition that is characterized by the clogging of skin pores. The clogged pores produce inflamed lesions, such as pimple and zits, and non-inflammed lesions, like blackheads and whiteheads. What causes the clogging?

The primary answer is genetics. If both parents have acne, there is a 75% chance of their children having it. In addition, factors such as stress, sun exposure, seasonal changes and climate can aggravate existing acne inflammation. Working women are more prone to breakouts due to their highly stressful lives in addition to the regular use of pore-clogging makeup.

Home Remedies for Acne

Drug stores offer a wide range of OTC drugs for the treatment of acne problems. However, do not sell natural acne skin care short. Here are a few alternatives.

Grated Cucumber: Remedy 1

Cucumber is one of the most valuable home remedies for acne treatment. Just grate a cucumber and apply the paste over your face, eyes and neck for about twenty minutes. It will soothe your skin, reduce swelling and, if used regularly, it will eliminate blackheads and clogged pores.

Aspirin Paste: Remedy 2

Aspirin is a useful and inexpensive pimple treatment. Make a paste by adding one or two drops of water on an aspirin tablet and apply it directly to the lesion. Leave the paste on for a couple of hours and see how it dries up.

Orange Peels: Remedy 3

Orange peels are another inexpensive home remedy for the treatment of acne. Pound an orange peel with a little bit of water against a hard surface (a mortar and pestle work well). Apply the pounded peel on the affected areas.

These home remedies are for mild acne and occasional pimples. More severe forms of acne require professional treatment. Chronic acne, however, is a serious condition and should be taken seriously.

Home remedies can be an effective acne treatment method for occasional outbreaks and, consequently, for avoiding acne scars. They will help minimize the appearance and extent of the blemishes and keep your skin healthy. Try out a natural acne treatment remedy to see which one gives you the best results.
