Scar Prevention and Treatment

by Martha Fitzharris

Scars are made up of connective tissue that develops in order to shut rapidly an opening in the skin.

There are several types of scars. Hypertrophic scars are raised scars. Keloids are raised scars but extend beyond the original wound boundaries. The reason that these scars are raised is because of an excess in production of connective tissue. Keloid and hypertrophic scars treatment aims to flatten or remove excess scar tissue.

Other scar types might fall under the umbrella of atrophic scars, meaning those that leave depressions in the skin. These depressions exist because of a lack of skin tissue. Acne scars, like box and ice pick scars, are atrophic scars. To raise up these depressions, treatments include injections, excisions and cell regenerating creams. Most scars don't require medical attention but most feel that they are not pleasing to the eye. After a wound has occurred to the skin, both skin cells and connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) begin multiplying to repair the damage. The fibroblasts form a framework upon which the skin cells can migrate into and fill in the wound. The rate of fibroblasts vs. skin cells leads to the evidence of scars. When fibroblasts replicate faster than skin cells, the resulting scar is raised. If regular skin cell replication is equal to fibroblasts than less scarring occurs.

What can be done to minimize scar formation?

Unfortunately, scars are permanent. Despite this, you can still find an effective scar treatment to remove scar tissue and decrease the visibility of your scars.

Try checking out the rapidly emerging natural scar therapy market. These solutions combine functions. As an example, silicone scar therapy only attacks the treatment of keloid scars in one way: it reduces the extent of the protrusion by flattening the scar. The best scar therapy will go beyond simple scar tissue reduction and will be a scar healing treatment, one that will work to regenerate healthy skin tissue. Regeneration of tissue is essential for the treatment of acne scars as they mainly manifest themselves as atrophic.

The most exciting scar removal products contain mucin, a natural regenerative substance produced by garden snails. This byproduct boasts natural antibiotic peptides to prevent infection, skin regenerating peptides that prevent and heal scars, enzymes that clean pores and digest excess tissue, proteoglycans that reduce inflammation and glycosaminoglycans that assist in skin moisturization.

What it does:

* Regenerates new glycosaminoglycans which improves skin firmness and elasticity,

* Increases moisture retention by producing more glycosaminoglycans,

* Improves the skin's blood vessel microcirculation,

* Improves natural defense against oxidation, and

* Fixes damage at the protective skin layer.

BIOSKINREPAIR is a scar treatment that works from the roots of scar formation. As a natural scar therapy, BIOSKINREPAIR repairs keloid, hypertrophic, acne as well as burn scars, removing excess scar tissue and regenerating skin cells, making it a successful scar healing treatment.
