Skin Rash Rescue: Tips for Dealing with Extremely Dry Skin

by Grant Ferns

If you have dry skin then you know how difficult and annoying it can be to treat. You have to be careful when buying any skin care product, but things could be worse, especially if you were to have very dry skin.

Very dry or extremely dry skin is a subtype of dry skin and is characterized by tight and sensitive skin that does not respond to traditional dry skin care products. This type of skin can lead to big problems if it is not treated properly.

However, by following a good skin care routine you can learn to live with very dry skin. This plan should include a skin rash rescue plan to help deal with allergic or irritating reactions to different situations and products. Lifestyle changes should also be a part of your skin rash rescue regimen.

What is the Right Skin Care Routine for Very Dry Skin

Normal dry skin can usually be treated with cream cleansers and creamy moisturizers. However, this is probably not sufficient for very dry skin. In this case, switch over to oils.

A great oil for treating very dry skin is olive oil. Simply massage a little bit all over your face and place a warm, moist washcloth over it. When the washcloth has cooled off, wipe off the excess oil and apply your usually moisturizing cream.

Rose hip oil can also be used as a moisturizer. It absorbs into the skin very quickly and treats dryness almost instantly. Reapply this product as often as your need to during the day (make sure to use sunblock if you plan on heading outside).

Including a sensitive skin balm in your daily skin routine is also a good idea. Look for products that contain aloe vera or licorice root. Both of these ingredients are known to alleviate irritation.

Changing some daily habits can also go a long way in reducing irritation and swelling. In fact, some changes are a fundamental part of treating extremely dry skin. Bad habits do nothing more than counteract the positive effects of your skin care products.

A good place to start are with dietary modifications. Eliminate or moderate the intake of beverages such as caffeine, alcohol and carbonated drinks. Each one of these products can lead to dehydration, which will eventually lead to irritation and rashes.

You can also change synthetic fabrics for natural fibers, use a humidifier, and drink plenty of water. Consistency is the key in this case. None of these suggestions will work if you do not commit to a long term lifestyle change.
