Dry Skin Relief throughout the Year

Dry skin can be difficult to treat, especially because it is susceptible to rashes, irritation, and redness. It can also get worse with seasonal changes.

Each season comes with its own set of problems. Cold weather are known for stripping the moisture from your skin. While summer means more pool time, and more contact with irritating substances such as chlorine.

Caring of Dry Skin during the Winter

Skin care products, like skin moisturizers, are your best ally during the winter. However, they aren't the only solution. In fact, you may have found a great moisturizer, but if you maintain certain bad habits you may still suffer from dry skin.

For example, by applying your moisturizer directly to dry skin, instead of damp skin, prevents your moisturizer from being as effective as it should be. Another habit that can produce dry skin is spending too much time in the shower, especially if you're using hot showers. It is important to shower for no more than a few minutes with warm water.

To cleanse your face you can use a cream cleanser or olive oil if you have very dry skin. Avoid soapy cleansers. The soap will dry out and irritate your skin while the water needed to lather up the cleanser will take some of your skin's moisture with it as it evaporates.

The following skin care tips can help provide you with dry skin relief during the winter. Make sure that you don't spend too much time in front of open flames or fireplaces. Also remember to use a humidifier and moisturizing products such as rose hip oil to help alleviate irritation and tightness.

How to Take care of Dry Skin during the Summer

If you're hoping that summer will come along to be free of dry skin problems, you may be in for a surprise. During summer dry skin is a commonality because people are more exposed to water, which strips both the natural oils and moisture from your skin.

If you want to enjoy the beach and avoid dry skin problems then it's important that you follow a few suggestions. First of all, make sure that wherever you go you take your moisturizer and sunscreen with you. This will help you protect your skin and keep it moisturized.

Whether you are going to go swimming in a pool or the ocean, you should always make sure that there are fresh water showers nearby. This will help you rinse off the excess salt or bleach that has been left on your skin. Once your skin is clean, make sure to apply your moisturizer and reapply your sun block.
